A stage for living

.

Architect : Ken Crosson

Conceived as a container sitting lightly on the land, the bach reinterprets the New Zealand building tradition - the crafting of wood - expressing structure, cladding, lining and joinery in a raw and unique way. A simple mechanism opens the "box" on arrival, providing a stage for living - and closes down on departure, providing protection. Unadorned timber provides a connection to nature and the natural. Walls disappear - shower, bath, living and bedrooms connect to the outside, enhancing experience. This house is designed to capture the essential spirit of the New Zealand holiday in the New Zealand landscape.

holy moly that's amazing. The rolling bathtub is such a great idea as well.
