1960 & 1968 World Sidecar Champion. German-born Fath began racing BMW sidecar outfits in 1958, and won the Isle of Man TT sidecar race and first won the World Championship 1960. In 1961 at Nurburgring, he was racing for the lead with Swiss rider Fritz Scheidegger when they collided at Rassruck.
