The Everest track by Niels Schoen

.

Hello Frank,

hope you still remember me, the guy that has drawn his Norton into 3D. I frequently watch the blog from motart, and enjoy the subjects that pass.

So maybe you will post my input again, it's a photo of Mount Everest, or as the Nepali people call it "Sagarmatha" and the Tibetans call it "Chomolungma" both indicating this mountain as "the goddess of mother earth".
In october last year my wife and I joined a grouptravel walking from Jiri to Everest (the original Nepal track to alcimatize, likewise did Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay). But I had no intention of going to the summit, however whe reached the remarkable height of 5545 meters, on top of the rockformation near the Pumori called "KallaPatar" (meaning black rock). The photo is taken from Kallapatar at an height of 5545 meter. You actually see mount Everest on the left and Nuptse on the right, in between with some clouds on top there is the summit of Lothse.

Afterwards, in Katmandhu, I bought the DVD "into thin air" by Jon Krakauer, he survived the tragedy back in 1996 when 12 people died on Everest due to a terrible storm and other factors. Famous names like Rob Hall and Scott Fischer were amongst the ones that didn't made it back down. Recently I bought the book from Krakauer with the same title and learned more from this horror-event high in the Himalaya's.

Again, love you're blog.

Greetings, Niels
