Here is you opportunity to get aboard a classic British motorcycle that may look a little odd but is a joy to ride. These machines, which, for obvious reasons have been described as “unusual,” were manufactured from 1946 to 1956. There were three: the S7, S8 and S7 Deluxe.
The engine is a longitudinally-mounted inline vertical 500 cc twin with shaft drive to the rear wheel. The inline engine made this technologically feasible. The original S7 was produced from 1946 to 1948 and did not sell well, but in 1949, the sportier S8, with standard-sized wheels rather than the fat tyres of the S7, and BSA type front forks, was produced.
This bike is in original, un-restored condition – which is evident in the muffler and original (although slightly dull “polychromatic grey” paint. It was imported from the UK about two years ago and has only been ridden to church on Sundays by a little old man called Tom.
The bike is club licensed with the
Indian Harley Club in Bunbury and is advertised on Just Bikes for $12,500.00.
