Is it ok if I like both?
I was a huge fan of the XT's in the 80's - but the new one looks like its built for the future......which when I think of the XT's in the 80's that is how I felt then about them.
So all I can say is.....its gonna grow on ya.
What do you mean by "ruin"? I much prefer the new one, and 2016 Ténéré in metallic blue is the most gorgeous thing ever.
It is indeed curious how one form will appeal so much more loudly to us than another. The 83 evokes a primal passion in me; the 16, eh, interesting at best.

The old one is so nice. Simple. Straightforward. You can see the machinery. And it has a playful style. The new one is for a guy that wishes he could afford a GS.
