KTM 495 Fenwick 1981

Everything has been said about the history of this KTM Fenwick Dakar. In 1981, the French importer of KTM, "Royal Motor" prepared and entered four KTM 495s in the Paris Dakar. These motorcycles, initially made for motocross, proved to be very efficient despite the 2T technology and the relative consumption not favoring them, forcing them to use gigantic fuel tanks to increase autonomy.

They were given to pilots Gilles Francru (#25), Yann Cadoret (#26), Elia Andreoletti (#27) and Philippe Augier (#28).
Only one KTM finished the race, that of Gilles Francru who finished in an excellent 5th position.
