Astorflex VS Alden

Astorflex : Lace-up boots from with the brand's signature crepe sole, responsibly made in the same factory in Mantua, Italy that has produced some of the world's best chukka boots since the turn of the 20th century. Since the beginning of the 1900s, family-owned Astorflex has been producing hand-made shoes in its factory in Mantova, Italy. Under the direction of its seventh-generation owner Fabio Travenzoli, Astorflex offers some of the world’s best responsibly and sustainably produced desert boots. At the end of World War I, a new kind of boot was produced using what was considered to be the ideal method – outer stitching along the edge of the sole. A technique used by Astorflex since 1984.

Alden : Alden has been producing Made in USA footwear for well over a century now. An icon of American footwear, Alden was founded in 1884 by Charles H Alden in Massachusetts and remains there to this day. The 405 Indy Work Boot from Alden is one of their most popular and iconic styles. Nicknamed the 'Indy' after Harrison Ford famously wore the boots in the 'Indiana Jones' film, they remain an American icon to this day. The 405 is made from ruggedly refined calf leather and is fully goodyear welted with a neo-cork outsole. A versatile and beautifully constructed boot that will be sure to last a lifetime, getting better with age. (The above style on these pictures is the 4011hc)

That being said, and although I am a big fan of the Alden brand, I must admit that on this specific style, Astorflex is far ahead in terms of quality/price ratio and comfort. The shape of the last as well as the materials used by Astorfelx for the Nuvoflex model, are in my opinion much superior and without comparison with the Alden 405 model. No need to talk about to the price which is twice cheaper than the price of Alden
