Henri Godbarge, born October 29, 1872 in Bordeaux and died January 30, 1946 in Saint-Jean-de-Luz (villa Asmouteguia), was a French architect, who dedicated his career to regionalism and who was one of the first theoreticians of the neo-Basque style. . Born in 1872 in Bordeaux, into a family of public works contractors, Henri Godbarge first devoted himself to a military career and attempted the entrance examination for the school of Saint-Cyr. In garrison in Rouen, he enrolled in the school of fine arts in this city, having Léon de Vesly as tutor, who pushed him to pass the competition for the school of Paris, where he was received in 1897. He follows the teaching of Marcel Lambert and obtains the diploma of architect D.P.L.G. in 1901.
