J. Wood and Co, Antique Motorcycle Auction

.

I'm always surprised by the quality of the auctions which take place in America, the numbers and quality of the bike you can find there is simply stunning i had the chance to be in the last Legend of the Motorcycle in Half Moon Bay auction a couple of years ago and it was also amazing.

Lot#43
1974 Norton Commando.
Sold for $5,500.

Lot#80
1954 AJS Alloy Scrambler 500cc
Sold for $5,100

Lot#35.
1956 Gilera Dust Bin. According to the Wood website, this bike came from the museum of Guy Webster in California. It says that during the '50s the Italian factories, looking for more speed, developed full enclosure fairings such as this called Dustbins. They were used in all the GP racing classes and caused speeds to jump dramatically. But they were found to be dangerous to handle in windy conditions and FIM outlawed them after 1956.
Sold for $7000.

Lot#130.
1980 Ducati Supersport 900. The sign said original owner, unrestored. Sold for $13,500.

Lot# 161.
1948 Indian Chief.
Did not sell.

Each year, during Bike Week at Daytona, the J. Wood & Company bike auction is held in Deland, Florida. Deland is a little collage town just West of Daytona and the auction is held in the athletic center of Stetson University.
